I'd imagine the layer organization goes something like this though just from referencing the book and show. I'm actually more upset about things being squared off and jagged which is totally against the acceptable ship design for a craft that sees a lot of time in zero g, rapid changes in direction throws people against sharp corners and proceedes to kill or injury them. Space and mass in a ship only relying on what it can carry would need to be as effecient and robust as possible especially since they don't have reflector dishes and shields that prevent damage from space born debris or even the wear cause by bombardment from the interstellar medium. This limits the exposure to the greater form of the craft as the crew is usually all in the same general area.Ĭompared to shows like star trek, which I hate to dis on, the spaces are all utilitarian and compact like they should be, not great and opulent for showiness like the trek universe. Also the thought must be kept in mind that the ship has a skeleton crew in comparison to it's usual full compliment of Navy and Marine personal if it were to be manned by the MCRN. Transportation from floor to floor is split between a central elevator and access shafts with regular ladders and handholds. As the ships are designed to provide gravity through thrust the ship layout is built just like a multi story building instead of a sea going vessel.
